Project Name: Tanzanian Dar es Salaam Sail-shaped Pedestrian Bridge (Landmark Steel Structure Pedestrian Bridge)

Construction Location: Dar es Salaam City, Tanzania

Structural Positioning: Urban landmark pedestrian bridge with a unique “sail” design

Dimensions: Span 42m, total height 15m, bridge deck width 5.6m

Structural System Design

We use the”single-tower cable-stayed + steel frame combination system” to replicate the sail shape. The main steel frame is 3D-designed, and cable stays on both sides act as ship sail traction lines, balancing stability and aesthetics.

Materials

Main Steel: Core parts use Q355B low-alloy high-strength structural steel; bridge tower-cable stay connections adopt Q460 high-strength steel for durability.

Cable Stay Material:Galvanized high-strength steel strands (multiple strands per cable stay) for reliability.

Bridge Deck Material:Profiled steel plates + concrete composite floor for sturdiness; guardrails (original pipes) combine safety and appearance.

Dimension Parameters

Main Span Scale: Main beam span ~42m, deck width 5.6m, total height 15m, meeting two-way pedestrian needs.

Cable Stay Configuration: 8 cable stays per side (8-15m long), single load capacity ≥50 tons.Cast steel parts for anchor nodes ensure even force transmission.

Efficient Assembly Construction

Adopt “factory prefabrication + on-site hoisting” mode, with steel component prefabrication rate over 90%. Bridge tower, main beam and anchor nodes are processed, derusted, painted and pre-assembled domestically, then shipped to Dar es Salaam Port. Staged on-site hoisting shortens construction time and reduces local condition impacts.
