Gaoerji Steel Structure Co., Ltd., a leading provider of steel structure solutions, today announced a significant milestone in its internal green energy transition: the installation and grid connection of a high-efficiency solar photovoltaic system on the 20,000-square-meter rooftop of its modern production facility in Hangzhou. This marks the official start of a new chapter in the large-scale use of clean, green electricity at Gaoerji Steel Structure.

Green Energy, Driving Production:

The project leverages the unique spatial advantages and high load-bearing capacity of the company’s modern factory’s large steel structure rooftop. Thousands of high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules are neatly arranged, forming a deep blue “sea of energy,” continuously converting solar energy into green electricity.

Preliminary operational estimates show:

Annual Power Generation: The project is expected to generate an average of 2.14 million kWh of electricity annually.

High Self-Utilization Rate: The generated electricity is primarily used for daytime production, directly meeting approximately 20% of the factory’s daily electricity needs, significantly improving its energy self-sufficiency rate. Significant Environmental Benefits: This project saves approximately 700 tons of standard coal annually and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,800 tons, equivalent to the carbon sequestration effect of planting nearly 100,000 trees. This initiative significantly reduces the factory’s operational carbon footprint, effectively supporting the country’s “dual carbon” goals.

Energy Savings and Consumption Reductions:

In addition to significant environmental benefits, the project also brings tangible economic value to Gaoerji:

Significantly Reduced Electricity Costs: The use of self-generated green electricity directly reduces the factory’s production energy costs, especially during peak hours, resulting in estimated annual electricity savings exceeding one million yuan.

Significant Demonstration Effect: The successful implementation of this project is a prime example of Gaoerji Steel Structure’s technological strength and sustainable development philosophy. It demonstrates that steel structures are not only efficient and stable spatial carriers but also ideal platforms for deploying renewable energy infrastructure. This provides clients with valuable experience in the “green roof + green electricity benefits” approach when planning and constructing large-scale facilities such as industrial plants and warehouses. Enhanced Corporate Image: Gaoerji leads by example, taking the lead in integrating energy conservation and environmental protection into its core operations. This fully demonstrates its commitment as a responsible enterprise and enhances its reputation and competitiveness in domestic and international markets, particularly among ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-conscious clients.

Gaoerji’s Voice:

“Investing in a rooftop photovoltaic project at our factory is not only a reflection of our company’s philosophy of ‘innovation, green, and quality,’ but also a strategic decision with a long-term vision,” said Zhou Xiangdu, General Manager of Gaoerji Steel Structure. “As a leader in the steel structure industry, we are deeply versed in the synergy between buildings and energy. The successful grid connection of this project not only brings economic and environmental benefits to us, but more importantly, it demonstrates a replicable and efficient ‘green steel structure factory’ model to our global partners. Going forward, we will continue to deepen our research and application of renewable energy and energy-saving technologies in steel structures, creating more sustainable and cost-competitive overall solutions for our clients.”

Looking Ahead:

The successful implementation of the rooftop photovoltaic project is a key step in Gaoerji Steel Structure’s green development strategy. The company will continue to focus on and invest in energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies to optimize its energy structure, including exploring waste heat recovery, intelligent energy efficiency management systems, and other initiatives to continuously reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions per unit of output value. Furthermore, GRG will incorporate these proven green building practices into its overseas projects, helping global clients achieve their environmental and energy-saving goals and jointly build a sustainable future.
