Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la construction, les contacts les plus courants sont l'ASTM A36 et l'ASTM A992. L'A36 est un vieil acier au carbone standard, dont la teneur en carbone est contr\u00f4l\u00e9e \u00e0 0,29, et dont la ductilit\u00e9 et la soudabilit\u00e9 ne doivent pas \u00eatre choisies ; l'A992 est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement utilis\u00e9 pour fabriquer des aciers en I et des aciers en H \u00e0 larges brides, dont la limite d'\u00e9lasticit\u00e9 peut atteindre 50 ksi et la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la traction est plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e. L'acier de construction est diff\u00e9rent de l'acier \u00e0 outils et de l'acier inoxydable. Sa composition chimique - fer, carbone, mangan\u00e8se et quelques traces d'alliage - est calcul\u00e9e avec pr\u00e9cision. Sa teneur en carbone est relativement faible, ce qui est la cl\u00e9 de sa bonne utilisation. En raison de sa grande polyvalence, tant qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un projet ayant des exigences extr\u00eamement particuli\u00e8res en mati\u00e8re de portance, il est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement choisi pour les biens de grande envergure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_High-Strength_Low-Alloy_Steel_HSLA\"><\/span>2. Acier faiblement alli\u00e9 \u00e0 haute r\u00e9sistance (HSLA)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd'hui, la conception architecturale est de plus en plus pouss\u00e9e \u00e0 la limite, et cette fois, il faut compter sur l'acier HSLA.
