Project Name:Steel Workshop for Afrinest Engineering Rwanda Shipyard
Project Location:Plot 4292, Coza Bay Marine Complex (CBMC), Bwishyura, Karongi, Western Rwanda
Founded Year:2018
Project Materials:Marine-grade steel (hulls, frames, parts) + other steel fittings
Our Work:Custom steel workshop (boat making & repair)
Partner Project:Rwanda Lake Kivu Water Transport Development (with RTDA)Project Size:Length 105.23m, Span 21.08m, Eaves Height 16.50m & 22.20m (dual-height for multi-use)
Project Overvie:We’re a steel structure manufacturer, and this shipyard workshop is key to Rwanda’s Lake Kivu transport upgrades. We built it just for Afrinest: 105m long, 21m wide, with two roof heights. This double height lets them repair small boats and build larger vessels in one space – exactly what they need for smooth shipyard operations.
Key Steel Structure Highlights
·Custom-Fit Design
We created a pre-built steel frame for the 105x21m space. It uses strong high-grade steel beams, columns, and roof parts that hold heavy gear (like gantry cranes and welding machines). The 21m span has no middle columns, giving plenty of open space to move big boats around – a practical design that makes the workshop really useful.
· Fast, Quality Construction
We made 90% of the steel parts in our factory first. On-site, we just assembled them – much faster than building from scratch on-site. This cut time, reduced waste, and kept quality consistent. For Rwanda’s important transport project, meeting the schedule was a must – and this method worked.
·Dual-Height Flexibility
We adjusted the steel frame to add two roof heights (16.5m and 22.2m). Now Afrinest can fix small boats in the shorter section and build tall cargo vessels in the taller part. It’s flexible – no wasted space, no limits on the jobs they can take.
·Durable & Expandable
This steel structure handles non-stop industrial work. It holds heavy loads, doesn’t wear out easily, and is modular. If Afrinest wants to expand the workshop later, the steel frame makes it simple. It’s built for now and future growth.
